At Parry Sound Public Library, we are committed to meeting the varying needs of all members of our community. We strive to ensure that individuals, including those with disabilities, have an equal opportunity to effectively use the Library in an independent, dignified manner. We offer a variety of equipment and services to help facilitate this aim.

Accessible Library Services and Collections

The Library provides materials in multiple formats, to help meet the needs of all of our community members.  Our material types include:

• Large print books

• Closed caption DVD's (many have subtitle options)

• Audiobooks (on CD)

• Downloadable eBooks (which usually allow text size to be adjusted to suite individual needs)

• Downloadable eAudiobooks

• 2 DAISY Readers and CNIB discs.  For more information on CNIB services, please call 1-800-563-2642.

Adjusting Text Size

All modern browsers allow for dynamic text resizing using your keyboard. To change text size, simply hold down "ctrl" and press either the plus key "+" to increase text size, or the minus key "-" to decrease text size. If you would like to return text size to the website default hold "ctrl;" and press the zero key "0".

Navigating with the Keyboard

Most browsers allow you to navigate using the Tab key to jump from link to link. To navigate backwards, use Shift + Tab.

Accessible Library Facilities

The Parry Sound Public Library’s main floor is accessible, and includes features such as:

• Accessible parking at McMurray Street Parking lot

• Ramp at entrance off McMurray Street with automatic door

• Wide aisles and doorways

• Accessible washroom on main floor

 

Accessible Formats
Public documents generated by the Library are available in alternate formats upon request.

DAISY Player

DAISY is a digital talking book standard, developed by an international consortium of libraries that serve people who are blind or have print-related disabilities.

Two DAISY players and a variety of CNIB discs are available to be borrowed by library card holders for up to three weeks at a time.
