Library Circulation Assistant (Temporary Part-time Contract Position)
Job Title: Circulation Assistant
Position: Part-time 20-25 hours/week, weekend and evening work required. This is a temporary 12-week position.
Wage: $23.42 - $27.11/hour
Role Description
This is a temporary part-time contract position, for 12 weeks, to take place over the Summer Season 2026. The Circulation Assistant will work 20-25 hours a week in 5-hour shifts Tuesday – Saturday. This may include some evenings (2:00 pm – 7:00 pm). The Circulation Assistant will never work alone in the library.
Position Responsibilities

Checking in/out library materials, renewing materials, etc.

Responds to inquiries by phone, electronically, or in person

Helps patrons print, scan, and fax documents

Provides reader advisory (book recommendations)

Provides patrons with assistance with basic technology (e.g. connecting to the library’s WiFi, downloading eBooks, printing)

Processes transactions with cash or Interac payments

Shelving/filing books and other material
-
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-
Experience/Education in related field an asset

Vulnerable sector check required

First Aid Training an asset
Skills
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Keen attention to detail

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office

Knowledge of books and love of reading
