Registration opens July 2nd, 2024 - please register at Parry Sound Public Library (for library members only)

Kids can explore the fun of reading their way! Choose from thousands of books, track reading, collect ballots for a chance to win weekly prizes, and participate in fun activities!

Downtown Parry Sound StoryWalk®

A StoryWalk® is a fun outdoor activity that places a children’s book, page by page, throughout Downtown Parry Sound. Kids and their families have the opportunity to enjoy reading a book while strolling through Parry Sound at their leisure.  StoryWalk® will be displayed July 2nd to August 30th, 2024.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, and was developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

Summer Literacy Program
 

A structured literacy program based on the Science of Reading.  Registration Required. 6 week program designed for ages 5 to 8.  One hour sessions on Tuesdays, July 9th to August 13th.

 

Two session times available; Session A - 10 am or Session B - 11 am.

Located in the library auditorium (not wheelchair accessible)

 

Registration: Please register at the Parry Sound Public Library.  Due to demand, only one 1 hour session (A or B) per week is available per child.

  • Wednesdays at 11 am - LEGO Club in the Children's Section

  • Saturdays at 11 am to 1 pm - Tech Club

 

Thursday, July 18th at 7:30 pm

Family Movie Night in Carling: Migration (Rated G), located at the Carling Community Centre.  Admission by donation.  Proceeds go to the new community play structure.

Tuesday, July 23rd at 1 to 2 pm

ChamberKids: Trio Carnaval play with the "Carnival of the Animals", free children's concert in partnership with Festival of the Sound and have a chance to try out instruments with Long & McQuade. 

Thursday, July 25th at 7:30 pm

Free Outdoor Movie Night in McDougall: Kung Fu Panda 4 (Rated PG), Located at the McDougall Rec. Centre (Outdoor Rink).  Bring your own chair or blanket.  Free popcorn and water.

Tuesday, July 30th at 1 to 2 pm

ChamberKids: TBA - free children's concert in partnership with Festival of the Sound and have a chance to try out instruments with Long & McQuade.

Family Movie: Space Jam (Rated G) - Enjoy at free family movie!

Science North: Imagineering - Test your Imagineering skills with Science North's exciting hands-on and interactive stations! Visitors will use the engineering method to brainstorm, design, and test various engineering and architecture challenges!
